2026: less confetti. better questions.

new year wishes have become lazy.
health. wealth. happiness. copy paste पटाखे repeat.

but after the 2025 we’ve dragged ourselves through,
maybe wishes need better posture.
थोड़ा spine, थोड़ा soul.

in the usa, democracy felt like it was surviving
on duct tape and crossed fingers.
in india, शोर often replaced संवाद,
and विकास forgot to ask who it was actually for.

everywhere, prices climbed like they had a gym membership,
while धैर्य, empathy, and trust quietly took the stairs down.

so what do we wish for this time?
not चमत्कार. not magical thinking.
just better priorities.

let’s wish for leadership that listens more than it lectures.
for politics that feels like लोक-सेवा again, not prime-time entertainment.
for economies that remember people are not spreadsheets
with emotions turned off.

and while we’re wishing—let’s not ignore the planet.
because it’s tired of being treated like a side character.

green energy still moves at the speed of permissions and paperwork,
while deforestation runs like it’s late for a deadline.
we plant नारे faster than पेड़.
we cut forests in the name of विकास,
then act shocked when floods, heatwaves,
and polluted air show up uninvited. (hello, AQI)

this new year, let’s wish for consistency.
if we talk about विकास, let it be sustainable.
if we celebrate progress, let it include the future.
because विकास that eats its own roots
is just ego with a delayed invoice.

personally, i wish for discomfort—the useful kind.
the kind that forces better questions.
better conversations.
better choices.

less outrage. more outrageously sincere action.
less division. more मुश्किल, but honest dialogue.
less wishing. more doing.

happy new year.
may we finally wish for things that actually matter.
